"TED Energy Controller" app (fr.tedenergy.mobile) · updated October 5, 2026

Summary

The app only talks to your own TED server, installed at home (Home Assistant or Docker). It requires no account, contains no ads or usage statistics, and sends no data to TED Energy or any third party.

Data stored on the phone

  • Your TED server address (on the home network and, if enabled, the public address for remote access), and the servers used recently: to connect to it.
  • Remote access key, if you pair the phone: it signs requests sent over the Internet and is never transmitted.
  • Your preferences: theme, display unit, charts shown, notifications on or off.
  • For notifications: the time of the last check and the identifiers of messages already shown, so they are never shown twice.

This data stays in the app's private storage and is not included in Android backups. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings.

Data from your installation

Solar production, consumption, battery and inverter status, rules and messages are read from your TED server to be displayed. They stay on your server, under your control; the app does not copy them anywhere else.

Actions you confirm (enabling an inverter, switching it to monitored…) are sent to your TED server, which records them in its change history.

Notifications

If you enable them, the phone itself polls your TED server about every 15 minutes to fetch the messages you selected. No external notification service is used.

Finding the server on the network

When you tap "Rechercher TED sur mon réseau" (find TED on my network), the app queries the devices on your Wi-Fi network to find the TED server. Nothing is sent outside your network.

Android permissions

  • Internet access: talk to your TED server.
  • Network state: know the phone's Wi-Fi address, to search for the server.
  • Notifications: show your server's messages (Android 13 and later ask for your consent).
  • Run at startup: reschedule the notification check after a reboot.

The app's "ted-energy.fr" and "Discord" buttons open in your browser. Those sites have their own policies (see this site's Privacy page).

Security of exchanges

On the home network, the app talks to your server like its web interface. Remotely, every request is signed with the access key (HMAC-SHA256): a modified, replayed or outdated request is rejected. To encrypt traffic, use a VPN or an HTTPS proxy.

Audience

The app is intended for owners of an installation controlled by TED. It is not directed at children.

Contact and rights

Since the app sends us no data, we hold nothing about you through it. For any question: contact@ted-energy.fr or the Discord server. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority).

This policy may change with the app; the update date is shown at the top of the page.
