How it works · 3 of 4

The right battery, at the right time. The emptiest is spared.

Four batteries are never at the same level. TedEnergy uses that: when discharging it starts with the fullest and swaps roles smoothly when the gap justifies it. The result: the levels move closer together instead of drifting apart.

Press “Compare” to see the standard HEMS alongside. Space bar: pause.

The animation

What you are seeing

The fullest first

When discharging, batteries are called in level order. When charging it is the other way round: the emptiest fill first.

A jolt-free swap

When a sleeping battery becomes clearly fuller than a running one (the gap is adjustable, 25 points by default), they swap places through a gradual hand-over.

Solar is not wasted

An inverter whose panels are producing goes first: its solar feeds the home instead of filling its battery only to empty it later.

A discharge priority per inverter

In each inverter's profile: low, medium (default) or high. A low-priority inverter is only used when the others are not enough.

Where to adjust

  • Settings › Distribution: level gap to switch inverter, power per active inverter.
  • Inverter profile › Discharge priority (low, medium, high).

Simplified animation: the swap gap is 10 points here so the scene fits in about a minute; the default setting is 25 points. The standard HEMS is basic control used for comparison, not a particular product.

Frequently asked questions

Why spare the emptiest battery?

A battery that hits its minimum stops and is no longer useful: the others must make up for it, each at higher power. By sparing it, TedEnergy keeps every battery usable for longer.

My batteries have different capacities: is that handled?

Yes: TedEnergy reasons in level (%) and in each inverter's maximum power, not in equal shares.
