Guide · Synology without the command line

Install TED on a Synology

Everything is done with the mouse, in Container Manager. Allow 10 minutes.

You need

  • A Synology NAS with DSM 7.2 or later.
  • Home Assistant working, on the NAS or another machine.
  • The Home Assistant address, the one in your browser (for example http://192.168.1.50:8123).
  • Your inverters and meter visible in Home Assistant.

    Install Container Manager

    In DSM: Package Center › search for Container Manager › Install. Already installed? Go to step 2.

    Create TED's folder

    File Station › docker folder › Create › Create folder, named ted. It keeps your settings and license, even after an update.

    Download TED

    Container Manager › Registry › search for tedenergy/ted › select it › Download › tag latest › Apply. After a minute, TED shows up under Image.

    Create the container

    Image › select tedenergy/ted › Run. Fill in only this:

    Container nameted-bot
    Enable auto-restartChecked
    Port settingsLocal port 5002 › container port 5000 (TCP)
    Volume settingsAdd Folder › docker/ted, mount path /data

    Click Next, then Done (keep “Run this container after the wizard is finished” checked). Nothing else to set.

    Open TED

    In your browser: http://NAS-ADDRESS:5002 (the DSM address, with :5002). The setup wizard asks for:

    • your first name and email, for the free license;
    • the Home Assistant address, for example http://192.168.1.50:8123;
    • an access token: in Home Assistant, click your name at the bottom left › Security tab › Long-lived access tokens › Create token, then copy it.

    TED's interface is in French for now. Follow the wizard to the end, then getting started.

Update

Updating TED

TED tells you when a version is out. Your settings stay in docker/ted: nothing is lost.

    Open Container Manager › Image

    Update available appears next to tedenergy/ted (sometimes after a few hours).

    Click it, then Update

    Container Manager downloads the new version and restarts TED with the same settings.

No “Update available” label?

Registry › tedenergy/ted › Download (tag latest), then Container › ted-bot › Action › Stop, Reset, then Start. Never delete the docker/ted folder.

Troubleshooting

Something wrong?

TED's page does not open

In Container Manager › Container, ted-bot must be running. Check the port (5002) in the address. Error details are in ted-bot › Log.

“Home Assistant injoignable” (unreachable) in the wizard

Enter the Home Assistant IP address with its port (http://192.168.1.50:8123), not homeassistant.local. It must open Home Assistant in your browser.

“Home Assistant refuse le jeton” (token refused)

The token was copied incorrectly: create a new one in Home Assistant and paste it in full. You can change it at any time in TED: Paramètres › Connexion Home Assistant et compteur.

Port 5002 is already in use

Delete the ted-bot container (not the docker/ted folder) and recreate it at step 4 with another free port, between 5003 and 5009. Your settings are kept.

Container Manager is not in the Package Center

Your NAS cannot run Docker. Install TED in Home Assistant OS instead, or on another machine.
