Nested AND / OR rules
Combine surplus, grid power, battery level, time and the state of each inverter, with "then" and "else" actions.
Surplus automations
At every moment TED knows the surplus, the battery levels and what each inverter is doing. Use it to switch your loads on at the right time, without writing a line of YAML.
A good surplus rule has to combine several conditions (surplus, battery level, time) and avoid rapid on/off cycles. Written by hand, it quickly becomes hard to read and maintain.
Above all, it ignores what the HEMS is deciding: it may take energy the batteries should have stored.
TED
Combine surplus, grid power, battery level, time and the state of each inverter, with "then" and "else" actions.
Turn an entity on or off (plug, water heater), run a scene or script, or call a webhook.
A minimum delay between two triggers avoids bursts of switching when a cloud passes.
Get alerted according to your own rules: low battery, faulty inverter, large surplus…
Actions are on/off (switch on, switch off, run a script). To finely modulate a heating element's power, a dedicated solar diverter is still useful; TED can then control it through a Home Assistant script.
A smart plug, a contactor or a script.
Automations page: conditions, then "then" and "else" actions.
The history shows every trigger.
The live demo shows TED's real interface on a working installation: energy flows, inverters, batteries, settings.
No: rules are built in TED's interface, with drop-down choices.
You decide, through the rule's conditions: for example, only switch the water heater on when the batteries are above 90%.
Surplus exported at noon, imports in the evening: TED keeps the grid close to 0 W, continuously.
